The Problem
Auto-Submit Search & Filter Pro After a 700ms Delay
A search field feels slower than it needs to when visitors must type a term and then click Submit. Search & Filter Pro can auto-submit after the visitor stops typing, and a short delay prevents a request on every keystroke.
The Fix
1. Edit the Search field
Open the Search & Filter Pro form/query and edit the Search field you want to behave like live search.
2. Turn on Auto Submit
Enable Auto Submit for the field. This tells Search & Filter Pro to submit automatically after the visitor interacts with the field.
3. Set Auto Submit Delay to 700
Enter 700 in the Auto Submit Delay setting. The value is in milliseconds, so 700 gives the visitor just under three-quarters of a second to finish typing before the search runs.
4. Remove the Submit button if you no longer need it
If every field in the experience submits automatically, the separate Submit control may be unnecessary. Remove it only after testing the complete form.
5. Add a Reset control
Add a Reset control so visitors can clear the current search and filters in one click. Style it to match the rest of your interface.
6. Test short and long searches
Try one-letter, multi-word and fast typing tests. Make sure the delay feels responsive without firing a new request for every single keystroke.
Quick Summary
Search field → Auto Submit: On → Auto Submit Delay: 700ms. Add a Reset control and remove the Submit button only if the full form no longer needs it.
Common Problem
If the form submits too quickly, increase the delay to 900–1200ms. If it never submits, verify Auto Submit is enabled on the actual field being used on the front end.
